Fully supported and escorted Holidays for people with an intellectual disability, mobility challenges, mental health or acquired brain injuries.

Simon has been employed in hospitality, airline, car hire and travel industry for over 20 years, and meeting with disability support workers who showed a keen interest in taking clients on a experiential holiday was the start of our Supported Holidays.

Our aim was to provide a memorable, fun and experiential holiday while at the same time keeping it affordable. Many years spent travelling to Bali, we developed an itinerary to suit clients with disabilities or clients who require assistance, and have now successfully taken three separate groups to experience what Bali has to offer. Culture, fun parks, Animal Safari Zoo and much more.

Our support personnel are all highly experienced and trained disability support staff, one a registered nurse. This expertise, coupled with fun loving people is the perfect recipe for a great holiday!

All of our holidays are FULLY SUPPORTED and ESCORTED from your home port and FULLY TRAINED support staff are on call 24 hrs. Client to staff ratios are strictly adhered to on a 1:1, 2:1, 3:1 and 4:1 basis depending on the trip requirements.

As the sole carer for my 2 adult children who have myotonic dystrophy, I found it emotionally painful to take breaks away without feeling sad and guilty that I was out there experiencing new adventures, people & places whilst they were unable to expand their own little world beyond their home town of Byron Bay.

Whilst booking a trip for myself to Antarctica I was told about Spencer Travel, holidays for people with disabilities run by Simon Crethar

We were picked up at our front door and arrived at Brisbane Airport to meet the rest of the 22 strong group which included a registered nurse in Disabilities as well as disability support workers employed on a 3:1 client to staff ratio. Everything was made easy for us, with all Entry Fees to parks, visas, porters and wheelchairs previously organised to make our airport entry & exits go smoothly.

I was blown away by how easily this extraordinary group got on together. It was heart warming to see how quickly and naturally they formed bonds, I felt very privileged to see them in this light and felt very sad that their parents missed out on the wonderful experience of seeing their children so exuberantly happy, productive, vital and alive.

The hardest part for me as a carer is seeing how apathetic the disabled become due to lack of stimulation and how little there is to look forward to in their lives. Carers, and that includes me, are usually too exhausted to organize things for them to do and this is the reason why I immediately recognised the potential of Spencer Travel. I am so grateful to Simon Crethar for putting this trip together and for giving these special people the best holiday they have ever had.

I know my story will seem like an advert for Simon's new travel business, and it is! Parents and carers need to know they can give their charges variety, and a reason to get out of bed and to add the spice of life that they are missing out on.
