If there’s ever a good indicator for Adelaide’s emergence as a leading business events destination, look no further than the city’s growing hotel landscape.

A raft of five-star properties, including those by Sofitel, Crowne Plaza and Westin are all on the horizon – and conveniently located just a short distance to the Convention Centre.

Leading the charge is the new luxury Sofitel on Currie Street, forecast to open in 2020. In addition to 257 luxury rooms, the new Sofitel—the first in South Australia—will feature extensive leisure and business facilities, including a restaurant, four bars, health and fitness centre and lounge.

The Sofitel will be in good company when it opens with a five-star Crowne Plaza also scheduled to open in 2020. Announced this past February, the new hotel on Frome Street marks a swift return of the Crowne Plaza brand to Adelaide after the previous hotel of the same name was rebranded Pullman Adelaide just last year.

An interesting feature of the new Crowne Plaza is the fact that the hotel lobby will be located on the 10th floor, with the levels underneath occupied by ground-floor retail along with 83 residential apartments.

Most recently, Westin Resorts & Hotels announced that they are also coming to Adelaide with a new five-star, 285-room luxury hotel set to open in the heart of the city in 2022.

Located at the corner of King William and Flinders Streets, the new hotel will be attached to Adelaide’s historic GPO building, delivering panoramic city views. Beyond its range of luxury hotel accommodation, the new Westin property will feature three dining venues, along with a spa, gym and swimming pool.
